The second half is much better than the first. I'm having fun now that the story finally picked up.

Almost two hundred pages in and first mention of Ransom. Fortunately things are starting to pick up over all--I'm still not sure what to make of this book. Given how long I've wanted to read this series, I'm disappointed in myself for feeling so underwhelmed as I race towards the end.
