amber's family drama is never really over because she hasnt reconciled and talked to her dad and stepmom. it's sad that once summer is over shes going back to her shit stepmom and stepbrother. idk i hoped that she would grow fond of them or they will be her source of solace amidst the chaos of the summer camp. well i guess the spinster club is her only source of strength through and through

one that will keep you imagining the lives of the characters long after you have finished reading the book
alcoholism, road trip mixed with insecurities became too all over the place
themes didnt land well and come together
there is so much going on here that nothing reaches climax and resolution

maybe because the one who is struggling is not the main lead but her mother
this once again has an open ending. one that will leave you guessing what happened to them afterwards
one that will let your imagination run wild

this did not have a lot of specifics about the mental health issue compared to its predecessor

or maybe bourne did not want a repeat of the previous book where evie reconnected with her entire family after her relapse. that her mental issue made the family stronger and finally understood each other. maybe some families are built different and do not fit the archetype or stereotype of family we know

did amber truly learn what real love is? i feel like she doesnt. maybe thats the author's goal. we will never what love is. it's a slow simmering water

after reading bourne's acknowledgement, i realized this was more suited as a road trip as she once planned it to be. the puzzle pieces never fitting together because the sides and corners were all jagged and ragged to see the full and complete picture

amber and her mother's final sit down moment felt cut short. the book ended prematurely and abruptly for me. id like to know more about how sure amber was with kyle. how she would answer the how hard can love be question. the resolution is almost there hanging in the air, within sight but never fully within reach.
