“Some people think that the very core of us, the last possible inch of our being, is integrity, or love, or faith, but it’s not. It’s hypocrisy. It sticks there in our ribcage, fused to the bone, stubborn as knotweed. It clings to life until the very end.”

“Horror is everywhere, but beyond understanding. Horror is knowing that there are things which can never be known. Horror is knowing that these things are denied to us forever.”

“Horror is in the unfathomable. All horror-all good horror-has at its heart a heavy, obdurate dread of the unknown, of phenomena not just beyond experience but beyond possible experience. This is an existential terror-not of death, although death is obviously beyond possible experience-but of an awareness of the innate limits of comprehension and knowledge that come with life.”

“Art, like an atom, changes when it is observed. The difference is that with art it is also the observer who is changed.”
“Whatever you think, you are wrong.”
“There is a beauty in that, too: the use of deceit and trickery not to tell a truth, but to simply hurt the observer’s eyes when they gaze upon it-like staring directly at the sun…”
“Sometimes, the words read you.”

The writing is amazing. AMAZING. I went completely blind into this book expecting absolutely nothing because it isn’t something I would usually pick up, but this book just keeps surprising me with the story and the writing. It is soo intriguing and it’s so hard to stop.

It’s soo interesting and I’m loving how different it is, the style, the notes etc. I already have some guesses but I don’t want to speculate too much.
