While fascinating, this is intensely dry. It reads like a keystone history thesis turned into a book. I keep losing track of characters because instead of focusing a chapter on one family, we get a little of each family each chapter in tiny increments, inching through time. So far, there’s been almost no mention of dust storms. Admittedly, reading online chapter summaries has been quicker and just as detailed.

While this is interesting, it’s absolutely aggravating to find yet another example of government and corporate greed destroying lives and having no accountability. Including not teaching in schools WHY the dust bowl happened.
