Reminiscent of Ally Condie’s Matched (2011) series. More dystopian than fantasy, the world-building feels a bit rushed, the mechanics of which remains a mystery to me. Maybe that’s the fantasy part? The main character’s wavering indecision as she steps back and forth between worlds makes it difficult to relate to or sympathize with her. She’s not a teen after all, but a 27 year old woman, albeit sheltered.
