He's always just been misunderstood. 🥺 💕 He's always had eyes for him. You can see how much it pains him! I read the manhua up to where the volume ends, after I read each volume and omg! The art!!!! The art is so precious! It made Yan Heqing so warm. His expressions were filled with so much love! 😭

But he's still partialy responsible (not that I truly blame him) for everything bad that happens to Xiao Yu'an (who is my most precious baby 🥰) in the end of vol 1 and start of vol 2, so I had to be angry at him a little. But my man here really opened up his wounds, just so he could be in Xiao Yu'an's care a little longer 🥹 how could I be still mad at him? Who doesn't love unhinged love interests 😆

But I could never be mad at him because sure, Yan Heqing was out getting revenge and doing what he needed to do as a future ruler of his kingdom— never forgetting his pride and his roots. Furthermore, he did it with the intention of saving a safe space for Xiao Yu'an so XYA could be safe.. Because if YHQ didn't prepare a space for him, who will? No one would care for the emperor and in turn torture him.
The people of his kingdom were too cruel, however. I think YHQ underestimated how cruel they are and was not cautious enough of how they would torture XYA when he wasn't looking. 😭
