I think in the philosophizing more than plot or character. They both like to reflect on bigger concepts and weave that into the storytelling, if that makes sense.
Also, it may be the shared Italian setting, but Marble Faun reminds me of Romola. Hilda and Romola seem like similar characters in some ways.
Good to know! I somewhat struggle with Eliot, but I was especially interested in Romola because of the setting. Since I loved this, maybe I will enjoy that one.
Ooh, I’d love to know if you do get on with Romola then.
Right?! Intense but so worth it.
