Ok, there's a timing thing. Whatever conditions they met in before, they just spent days together on the road, and he acts like this is the first time he's seen Jack's hair in the sunlight. Not a huge deal, could be dealt with via the weather, but w/e.

The character work is much more on the surface here than in her more recent books. That's not a bad thing, just different.

hope we're getting an explanation for that little outburst at some point
