really nice to read a Wodehouse with a different voice than his usual protags. lots of real life going on so slow progress though

this is quite different from any other Wodehouse I've read.

It's going slow cuz I just keep rereading the amazing sentences over and over again.

note to self: in future avoid hitting the climax at bedtime when you've got something important scheduled the next morning

getting a bit tired of the tv style narrative structure in these, but i will say some of the commentary he gets to slip into the mouths of joe random single scene pov character is amusing.

i feel like there's a tendency to say Milady is treated badly, and that's not wrong, but she's really not a well drawn character at all, like cartoonishly evil. maybe I'll change my mind by the end, but I doubt it
