Getting very strong David Suchet's Poirot voice from Nico in that last chapter. Not disliking this, by any means, but the flamboyance with which it is wearing its influences is distracting me from the story.

i was expecting the nephew to be the love interest, but no.

started this mostly because i've got 2 weeks of ku trial left, and this was the most expensive ku eligible book on my wish list.

It's impossible to laugh at the FBI's bumbling incompetent attempts to track Baldwin and his friends without surfacing an accompanying horror at the ease with which anyone can be tracked today.

so far, it's a bit mopey, not what I'm used to from Thornton. and the % complete has advanced more than the story seems to have. i assume there will be a love interest, but it's not clear who if so. interested to see where this goes.

bash is very lacking in the self awareness department, which usually i have problems with, but it's good.

Caspary is seriously underrated.

Really enjoying this. There's something special in the writing, vivid and lively. Lola is a riot, seems like she'd be right at home with Nick and Nora. I've been too busy to read much lately but maybe Monday.

Ok, I was thinking this was a lot stronger at the intimacy and attraction between the Augusts than with the plot, but damn, that was an unexpected turn of events with the "ex" there. Also no sex yet, which is a good sign 👍as I was a bit worried this was gonna turn out to be just a flimsy excuse for smut.
