i guess i shouldn't be surprised by how dark this is, that's hardly new for hardinge. i'm a little unsatisfied with how detached from the characters i feel though. maybe it's me, but some of it is probably the chunks of narrative that aren't focused on burr, and the narrative style. hopefully it's just taking me some time and i'll be more engaged as it goes on

well that was dark

hardinge won't let me down. i might let the book down, and pressure is on cuz it's from the lieberry. but i will try, and so far so good 👍
