With the illustrations and the number of times one line of poetry was left to a page, I don't anticipate it will be long before this is read, even when broken down while reading to the pipsqueak.
Fans of Tim Burton would likely enjoy the artwork, as it is very evocative of his animated works. As for the poetry, a little macabre, but no more than classic fairy tales ever were.
