I suppose "God" can enact justice just once in awhile. This book has made me think a lot about Christianity and how I grew up with a Catholic mom- and what religious trauma has been passed down to me. I'm not sure how much I believe in a higher power and this book certainly is a good display of that religious fervor.

This is suck a horrific entertaining (?wrong word- but I’m not sure what else to describe it as- it’s a train wreck) read- it reads so quick because it’s hard to put down.

oh. that was a very quick escalation.

never mind about Ina. I don't think I can like her.

I quite like Ina's story- though the tidbit about Marek was disturbing.

While I would say Jude is more fucked up than I thought- he isn't- he just makes me viscerally uncomfortable.

the truth of his mom's death- and his birth is revealed. Honestly, not that surprising to me- but his dad caring for him in the way he does- is.

So far full of that weird Christian ecstasy of hurt and repentance- who can show the most sincerity etc.- which is fun :)

I'm not sure how I really feel about this book at this point. The world building and setting description is fantastic- not overly detailed but perfect. I'm just not sure if I'll get sucked into it quite yet since I'm not a big fan of reading much about this time period.
