It’s shocking to me that women are even being taxed more (both individually and in a marriage) - and that sanitary products are considered “luxury items” just because they’re not essential to men.

Instead of basing our economy around male biased confection(?) we need to focus on reality- and collect more data Thats isn’t biased

The first example in the drugs dont work chapter was pretty much my exact experience with the medical system- except I still don’t have a doctor that takes me seriously. While this chapter wasn’t eye opening (because I’ve also experienced it) it did enrage me.

VR sexual harassment/assault- we didn’t think about it :0! Well meaning men don’t think about these things because it doesn’t happen to them- but I feel like ignorance is no excuse. I’m sick and tired of men.

I work in the service industry and have experienced some of the things from this chapter but GOD health care workers have it rough. What do you mean it’s literally everyday that women in healthcare experience violence!?!? And nothing is being done

Why can’t women do this? Why can’t they do this like a man can? Idk maybe because nothing was built for their body- something with certain jobs; when men are exposed to certain chemicals and it’s causing health risks- it’s a problem- but with women it’s just an issue that won’t be solved.

None of this is surprising- women (mothers/pregnant people) have to give up their jobs/income to raise their kid (and I say theirs because the man really isn’t pitching in) even in jobs that have tried to “fix” this or make things more fair- it’s not working because work for women doesn’t stop at the office like it frequently does for men- because all the unpaid labor is their job.

This section is horrific- public resources from restrooms, to transportation, to parks- have severely impacted women’s lives. The examples used in this section are just horrifying- and I’m astonished that our deaths aren’t even taken seriously if it’s a sex crime. Im so sick of it all- I’m so sick of men.

I suppose "God" can enact justice just once in awhile. This book has made me think a lot about Christianity and how I grew up with a Catholic mom- and what religious trauma has been passed down to me. I'm not sure how much I believe in a higher power and this book certainly is a good display of that religious fervor.

This is suck a horrific entertaining (?wrong word- but I’m not sure what else to describe it as- it’s a train wreck) read- it reads so quick because it’s hard to put down.

never mind about Ina. I don't think I can like her.

I quite like Ina's story- though the tidbit about Marek was disturbing.

While I would say Jude is more fucked up than I thought- he isn't- he just makes me viscerally uncomfortable.

the truth of his mom's death- and his birth is revealed. Honestly, not that surprising to me- but his dad caring for him in the way he does- is.

So far full of that weird Christian ecstasy of hurt and repentance- who can show the most sincerity etc.- which is fun :)

I'm not sure how I really feel about this book at this point. The world building and setting description is fantastic- not overly detailed but perfect. I'm just not sure if I'll get sucked into it quite yet since I'm not a big fan of reading much about this time period.
