Will the copying ever end??? Every special moment from the Hunger Games just gets diluted straight into this.

The slums don't make sense if everyone is supposed to have powers in this world/city. The reason it works in Red Queen is because the powerful/people in charge kept their oppressed population near them in their city. It could work if it's assumed that this area is only mundane powers but the characters don't act like. If anything the slums should be where the powerless people are. Unless I'm missing something here?

As a former teen who read Red Queen (the series that got me back into reading), I fear this read has to be done...

Also, I really, really, reallllly dislike the first line of this book. Like it's a confusing, cheesy first line/paragraph and I believe "The smell of soot stings my nose..." would have been the better entrance. But c'est la vie.
