things have picked up significantly since the "ghost" appeared 🐻‍❄️

my plan to read the remaining Hardinge novels in pub order being a miserable failure (my attempts at Gullstruck Island going very poorly) I've randomly picked this one. so far it's VERY "tell-y" and I was not expecting the actual real world historical context (which as an american is entirely unfamiliar beyond an "I've heard that name before" level). here's hoping it sticks.
