Hot take: A romance novel should not be more than 360-ish pages, y’all. It’s becoming a problem. Romantasy gets a pass because of world building, but even then it shouldn’t be more than around 100 extra pages. I just came across a Christmas contemporary romance that was 509 pages (paperback). Why?! I guaran-damn-tee you the conflicts get so redundant you end up skimming the last 150 pages.
