i just love the detail that CRB writes into this story, these tiny sensory touches that make everything feel more alive and real. and she also captures the sadness and loneliness of being a certain kind of teenage girl in a way that is so heart achingly real. (i think the loneliness of being a teenage girl is something that never really leaves you, how does this resonate with me still so deeply in my mid 20s?)

like the tiny detail of the smurf hand glued to the gearstick being so impactful for june because it’s a part of finn that shes never seen before, and then her desperation to hear toby’s stories about finn because she is learning these sides of him that shes never known before…
