Adam and Mr. Barlow have a confrontation at Penn Station. A man accuses Adam of being a draft dodger.

Adam and Mr. Barlow have a conflict with four guys at Penn Station. Afterwards they kid around. "Four huge guys--all of them communists," Adam told Barlow.

Adam's English teacher,Elliot Barlow, is very short, weighing only 130 lbs. but he had an "interior mischief", "an instinct for confrontation", For instance he liked to dress as a woman and he didn't care who knew it.

Adam is doing research for two writers on the Nazis.

Adam is getting nervous about what's going on in Vietnam. The first American combat troops had landed in Vietnam.

Little Ray, Adam's mother, would've been a great wrestler, at 110 lobs.
