What do you mean we can no longer message each other? I'm so confused and baffled. Like I understand why it could be possibly done for cyber security reasons or something else entirely. But people also form genuine friendships and engage in buddy reads here and messaging (for mature- responsible people) was a means of privacy and connecting.

im so sad about it honestly now i do agree with you but its how we all communicate on the messages gossip and banter besides doing buddy readstoo so frustrating like now cant make new friends without the message system waaa

And the thing is they mostly removed it because of creeps but whenever I report a creep they never ban that creep hello??
I just saw this and I’m so sad 😭 I understand messaging needed to change, but change it, don’t take it out of the app completely. Why not have a disable messaging feature where those who don’t want it can turn it off? Ugh

This is a grotesque display of power!!My main reason for joining Goodreads was to interact with people that love to read and become part of a community. This is absolutely astounding and I’ll bet there’s a political angle to all of this…

I just posted the same thing. I think it's because they can't be bothered dealing with AI bots, scammers and pervy men who keep propositioning female members. It feels like we're all being given detention for a couple of shitty kids in class!

It's possible. They should have asked the community first before forming this decision.
