Story #4 - Thagomizer
Love it! Not sure how it fits with the theme but I don’t even care as what an awful, but perhaps real scenario?
Reminded me of ‘are you my mummy’ from Doctor Who with the repeated line of the child…
Story #5 - Without a Face
Umm… ok? Needs more context added to define the point.

Story #11 - We who own the median
Wonderful!! A great commentary and perfect ‘curse’ set-up. I love the karma that comes into play. While the setting is sad you can’t help but kind of cheer for the tragedy in the end because it feels deserved.

Story #10 - The Turning
Ohhh… this is like extreme puberty. I love the analogy (and argument) that shows the evil of parents who do not accept their children as they are. The ones who disown their kids because they are queer, trans, gender fluid, etc.
I still can’t talk to my Dad about being bisexual… I’m 43. He’s the only one I intentionally hide behind my husband with. Sad but true.

Story #8 - Magical Girls Child Crusader Squad
This would make an amazing comic book series!!! I love the subtle nods to Buffy the Vampire Slayer (or at least that’s what I got the sense of but it might be because I’m old, lol). And finally the idea that a transwoman could be themselves because of a magical power that shifts them seems like a dream many would willingly accept, even if it meant fighting monsters.

Story #7 - Hopscotch for Keeps
Ohh very good summer time kids story. I like how the hopscotch kid could represent any number of things.

Book #6 - Last Leaf of an Ursine Tree
Interesting statement on mother/daughter dynamic and menstruation being the moment of ‘power’ for women.

Story #1 - Why We Keep Exploding
What a unique take on how puberty makes teens crazy and unpredictable. Love the trans twist here on gender. A solid start.
Story #2 - Unkindly Girls
I know what Piper is going for here; but it’s a little too vague and hidden. I’m all for not ‘telling’ too much and implying; but at some point I need more context and less ambiguity.
