...After a lot of googling, finally, not from Reddit or Quora, its Wikipedia page popped up. I read through the whole plot and it was as Anne-Marie's description! Moreso, one of the covers on Goodreads evokes this sense of familiarity! Finally, found it!
I've started reading and even in the first few pages, it's tight. But I'll leave it for now and come back when my memory of the plot fades a bit more :) So happy!

Okay, last update on this excitement. My googled phrase was: "young adult novel about a girl in a space circus".
After so many attempt with: young adult, girl, circus, space, aliens, etc. This showed Galax-Arena's Wikipedia page! 😭

Goodness, I've been looking for this book for the past few years!
This was part of my English class' compulsory reading for the semester back in secondary school. Somehow, I was able to dodge reading it altogether. It was sold to a 2nd hand bookstore at the end of that school year. But I remember my close friend Anne-Marie raving about it... a year or two later. She read a lot. But it still slipped through my mind.
