Mr. Schur I have to be honest with you. You’re allowed to think the Saab man was being absurd for fixing bumper damage that was nearly invisible to the naked eye. You don’t have to hide it behind “he just cares about his car to an extent I don’t understand.” It was a ridiculous thing to do and you’re allowed to say that. It didn’t deserve the Katrina shame but it was an inane thing to do.

I always sort of thought people dug into Chick-fil-A’s donation records and found questionable choices. I didn’t know the CEO just decided to be homophobic on a radio show. In retrospect the collective societal response makes much more sense now.

I’ve heard a lot about Ayn Rand being terrible but never the specifics. She sounds like a complete buffoon. And I’m highly entertained by how palpably Michael Schur hates her.

Good to know that my response of “no I would not run into the burning building because that’s scary and I’d die” actually has some morality behind it. Though I do feel like Schur leaves out the crucial point that civilians will often not aid an emergency and can quite often make it worse, thereby increasing suffering, not following maxims, not observing a golden mean related to ego, etc

I feel like I’d be much more interested in philosophy if it were explained like this all the time. It’s just far more understandable when Michael Schur writes it, somehow.

Accidentally helping an old Nazi lady cross the street to go buy Nazi memorabilia is so The Good Place humor. I love that the book is keeping the style of the show.
