Very interesting so far. Obviously there is no magic and it’s just an allegory for how women are viewed as dangerously innate sexual objects. I’ve been dying for a book that actually had valuable commentary on how women are pitted against one other in society for the sake of male validation so….hopefully this and Iron Widow make up for this year’s ROUGH reads 🤞🏻

I’m like 90% sure the ‘poachers’ r just the men from the county tormenting them. Why else would the one keep saving her lol? I bet it’s actually Michael (that was his name right? Idk😂) that or it’s another love interest she’s gonna get or something. Either there is a separate society that has been taught to hunt the girls, or ‘the grace year’ is just an excuse for county men to fuck w/ the girls
