The “linguistics” in this series is driving me insane because it depends on rhunic being English in its verbal form but with a completely different alphabet, etymology (of most or all words), and general history. For me this is super aggravating: either use the irl version accurately or make up something fully original, I hate these bastardizations

The problem with this series is that we almost never see the most interesting scenes which go down in the background. The idea of nyphron having tea with Jared is taking me out, I’ve been utterly robbed of seeing that go down

“You are the only one that matters” what happened to every one of our heroes needing to work together and play their part to save the world :(

So far the “forgiveness” situation isn’t as moralizing as I was dreading that it might be, but as much as I do believe in forgiveness I’m having a hard time reconciling the idea of forgiving someone because you have no right to judge them… like, if you have decided that there is a hurt to forgive then doesn’t that mean you judged that they did something wrong in the first place

I know she’s popular in the fandom but I simply do not care for makareta

Edvard the Gula may be the most minor background character to finally be named but the only thing we ever learn he did (besides get killed) is badass AND satisfying. Go Edvard

I have the same hatred for reading about a fantasy-“enhanced” version of a real religion, either do your research and use the actual beliefs/culture as basis for the story or make your own thing inspired by it, the last thing that I read that was like Catholicism + fantastical creatures and magic pissed me off so bad and here I’m just like why would literal modern English be the language of a prehistoric society set in a fantasy universe

Also I do give credit for this universe having its own creation story / religious systems, I think it’s pretty uninteresting but it is original so no critique there, I’m just reminded by my issues with the linguistics of previous frustrations I’ve had with irl religions being shoehorned into fantasy settings
