The premise of 1960s wives being told that if they don’t receive life satisfaction from only motherhood, there is something wrong with them was an interesting topic to explore. But the limited scope of only wealthy middle class women who have the ability to seek hobbies and jobs they enjoy is making the novel feel bloated.
