One piece of this book I want to be careful with is that the language of lament is used in such a way that it could be understood to be that if I just go through the process of lament, I'll move toward trusting in God. It really is less a process and more a disposition of the heart.

"Jeremiah is drawing from the very center of what he believes. He uses his theology and what he believers as the basis for hope. He dares to hope again."
Theology has always been about hope. The pursuit of it academically is to have a confident understanding of the hope given to us. Never brush off theology as unimportant!

I came out of a period of lament battered and bruised with my faith hanging on by a thread. I saw what I had done wrong and learned from it. So far, this book notes the exact things I learned! Lament is always meant to move us to trusting in God and away from our complaint.
