maybe just because it's 2 non Cassandra clare authors instead of 3 and maybe because they are actually pretty much all (at least thus far) told through magnus' internal narrative (instead of like starting in his and then switching to another character a bunch) but the like...voice in these feels less weird and jarring than in tales from the shadowhunter academy

like in tales from the shadowhunter academy, so many stories would start in Simon's perspective bc the point of them was technically to be his academy years and then most of it would switch and be in some other characters' perspective and first of all I think the reason for the switching being lectures or people telling Simon stuff felt flimsy at points and also i think that how often that book both switched authors (since there were 3 non Cassie clare authors) in between short stories AND how often it would switch character perspectives was a little jarring to read
