Okay, I didn't write a big comment the other day cos I wasn't feeling too great so couldn't be arsed, but I'm alright now.

OKAY.

So, I read the AWFUL chapter that was Ireland's birthday party...... and if I thought Carter was insufferable before and my enjoyment (or lack thereof) of his character was literally zero, well, that chapter dragged him to the fiery depths of hell because what in the FRESH EVER LOVING FUCK did I read?

Basically, Ireland, Carter's daughter, had a birthday party (and why this chapter was integral to Lennon and Jaxon's personal story absolutely beats the fuck out of me because it legit could have been taken out. Editors, where? It served no purpose other than to firmly solidify Carter as an absolute fucking melt and everyone else enabling his childish fucking antics. Carter Beckett is, hands down, without a shadow of a doubt, the worst character in the entire history of modern literature. I am not inviting discourse or discussion. He's the worst. The end.) And at this birthday party, there is a bouncy castle big enough to hold 200lbs per person, all the adult characters are dressed up in mascot Disney character costumes (for the kids sake, ofc, and not because they're all immature af) and Carter goes to "get ready" and dress up in a tux with a "grand entrance" for his daughter's first birthday that she won't even fucking remember anyway!!! And she comes in wearing a princess dress and riding a pony to Stevie Wonder's 'Isn't She Lovely.' I'm done. I'm fucking done. This book cannot be over soon enough. Again, why are there 510 pages? Answers on a postcard, please.
