i appreciate the humor much more now, as the characters take a more solid shape. the wording is honestly immaculate, and it makes me curious about how deliberately the translator must have worked, since the alliteration never seems to fail.

the voice of the author is becoming much more pronounced and the impact is greater in the 2nd chapter, although i liked the repetition of the first lines to Rickshaw Blacky and the description of Rickskaw Blacky as the tale went on was poignant and my heart ached for the poor cat who realizes the unimportance of his rat catching abilities (which he used to greatly esteem)
