Started reading this out of morbid curiosity. I know it’s controversial. It’s clear from the start Humbert is a sick individual. I did however have a sliver of empathy for him during the chapter about Annabel and his childhood. Ironically, he left me disgusted with his “nymphets” and obsessions in the chapter after. The book is interesting in a morbid way like when you watch a show about a serial killer.
