Ala… :(

Argh accidentally doubled my last update! Anyway Ala is great, though I wonder if the dybbuk will attach itself to anyone relevant. And can the Knights not sense it!

The prose is much better than the first book but I don’t think Roth’s managed to make the Knights acceptable so far. Dimitri goes on and on about how despite everything he loves them yet whenever they open their mouths they sound like a klan rally. It doesn’t feel intentional either. Maybe more pages would’ve helped?

The prose has greatly improved since the first book, but I feel like Roth is struggling to make the Knights likeable. Dimitri goes on about how they’re family and despite everything he still loves them but every time they open their mouths they sound like semi-misogynistic klan members.
