Jesus Christ. She solved the mystery, but has been keeping that knowledge to herself for that past two days for no obvious purpose. Like, another fire and another instance of vandalism has occurred since then. She supposed to be helping the sheriff, but now she’s concealing evidence for no discernible reason??

This book is fucking wack.

This literally might be the first chapter NOT to open with a shitty metaphor.

Literally nothing happened in this chapter.

Thank God, the end is near!

I was confused why the mother had rosary beads when the family isn’t Catholic? I know they haven’t mentioned the specific denomination, but I know she can’t be Catholic because she was literally married to the town pastor.

First this chick complains that the town is being ignorantly blissful by looking away from all the fires and attending the candle lighting ceremonies in the town square… and now that the mayor decided to stop the ceremonies due to the fires, she’s complaint that “silence won’t stop it.” She is just a whiner.

“She smiled with awkwardly.” Best sentence in the entire book.

The people in this town are straight out of the Crucible. They’re unbelievable… as in, I don’t believe people are quite like this. They’re caricatures.

This is literally the most drawn-out story I’ve ever read. Good God.

The subtitle said this was an “edge-of-your-seat” thriller, but I am fully at the back of my seat, waiting for this to be over.
