Ok, so the villain is a prominent new character in the book and is around a lot, but little information was provided that would suggest they were the villain beyond little anagrams and whatnot. We were told very little about them and so it would have been difficult to guess they were the villain unless it was just a guess based on nothing.

Pauline must be a red herring, but he does set them up well

I thought this chapter did a good job with explaining why marginalized people may not want a cop around

"The spot where Elizabeth Best would have stood. A bullet hole. The bullet fired directly into the ceiling.". How did Elizabeth not think of this? She thinks of everything, she's amazing, she's a genius!

I'm questioning this villains motivation

I don't know why nobody noticed this, but "burnt -umber" is a pigment, not a skin treatment ingredient!!

‘"Ooh, Ron, are you wearing perfume?’ asks Joyce. ‘It reminds me of something Joanna used to wear.’"

That woman knows what weed is, that's totally something my grandmother would have said

This is not a cream tea, it's an afternoon tea. Joyce called it the right thing but Pauline did not
