I think Joyce hasn't really fleshed out her sense of morality

"Mike Waghorn, thank you all for watching, take care of yourselves, and take care of each other.’". Ah, I see Mike has turned into Jerry Springer...

Ok, so the villain is a prominent new character in the book and is around a lot, but little information was provided that would suggest they were the villain beyond little anagrams and whatnot. We were told very little about them and so it would have been difficult to guess they were the villain unless it was just a guess based on nothing.

"The spot where Elizabeth Best would have stood. A bullet hole. The bullet fired directly into the ceiling.". How did Elizabeth not think of this? She thinks of everything, she's amazing, she's a genius!

"A waiter brings them a cake stand, loaded with tiny pastries and sandwiches. Joyce claps her hands. ‘I love a cream tea,’ says Pauline. ‘Now, while I eat a tiny eclair, why don’t you tell me why we’re here?’"
This is not a cream tea, it's an afternoon tea. Joyce called it the right thing but Pauline did not
