As AWESOME as the Cosmere links are I fear it is taking away from the overall plot of this book ?? Maybe I’m just overly confused, but if anyone has read this book can you let me know how you found it (without spoilers as I haven’t finished, obviously)

This being linked to the ONE Cosmere series I haven’t read is devastating. It’s lost a lot of its impact I think because of it….. i wish it was linked to one of the major ones instead

My biggest prediction at the moment is that Wayne is going to die, and I’m really not sure how I feel about that

For the first time in my grand Cosmere reread, we get to a book that I am in fact reading for the first time. When I first read this entire universe, ‘The Lost Metal’ had not been published. I waited, for FOUR YEARS, knowing I would get to it with this reread. My excitement is through the roof !!

Having read most of the Cosmere prior to this series (besides wind and truth) I loved this book and actually thought the Cosmere ties were so tea

I am doing a massive reread, not a massive first-time read! So I'm not sure that's what's making me confused lol....
That’s so fair, I think I remember also being a bit ??? But I was also in a Cosmere induced euphoria LOL so I might’ve just been like alright this is epic with no questions

Now rereading them 4 years later I've grown more cynical lmao
I did look over my review and without spoilers. I don't like to give away anything pertinent, but reading how this happens takes a person on a journey with these guys. Not a physical journey but you learn who they are.
I can see where you are coming from, can samewhat agree, I remember when i first read the Cosmere (back in 2018) it was hard for me to get used to the connection to the whole EU part ( I read them by publishing date, which was a blessing in the end (the The Lost Metal being one of them) But i did like how Sanderson kept connecting the Cosmere because readers actually liked it. You don’t see as many obvious connections in the earlier books—at least not like you do later—mostly because it was harder to pitch a huge shared universe to publishers back then, kind of like trying to sell the MCU before it was a thing.Honestly, I think that worked out for the best. Starting small meant the universe never felt overwhelming, and the connections had room to grow naturally. It’s a lot like how the MCU started with mostly standalone stories and slowly built into something bigger. I was lucky to be reading the books as they were coming out, so that gradual buildup really paid off.
