Trying to finish this GD book has me feeling like the Mr. Incredible “I can’t, I’m not strong enough” meme

Omfg Braden’s war flashbacks are so jarring. How are we going from thinking about how it weird to name a child Leo (it’s literally such a normal name btw??) to visions of bombs going off?

“Any big plans for the money?"
He laughed. "I'm not sure it'll be that big a raise, but any extra I get I intend to tuck away in the cookie jar, figuratively speaking. In reality, I'll put it in the bank.”

It’s actually good that he clarified the cookie jar isn’t literal because 1.) he is dumb enough to put large sums of cash in a cookie jar and 2.) Annie is too dumb to understand idioms

"I love this time of year," he said as snow cascaded around them. "Everything just seems so, you know." He shrugged, and snowflakes fell from the shoulders of his jacket. "Christmassy."

NOT SANTA USING HIS CHRISTMAS POWERS TO UNLOCK BRADENS PHONE SO ANNIE CAN SNOOP??? That messy bitch (Santa.)

Correct, only security guards password protect their phones. To guard the secret mall files.

So Annie cuts off her best friend and is then hurt when she doesn’t IMMEDIATELY text her back after reaching out for the first time in months. She is also hurt when a guy she has known for 10 days (but also technically 1) says he wants to get out of the time loop— because the only possible reason for this is that he doesn’t want to date her.

So she stupid AND a narcissist. A true villain.

Okay, telling the children to be nice didn’t work. 3rd plan: make the display look extra nice.

“Maybe-just maybe, if the display starts out perfect, those boys won't get a chance to wreck it, because karma will be on our side."

If I had a gun with two bullets and I was in a room with Hitler, Osama Bin Landen, and Annie, I would shoot Annie twice.

Astoundingly, making the floors wet did not help. Backup plan? Tell the children Santa wants them to be nice. This is infinitely more effective than forming a barrier to prevent the children from destroying the display.

The inner machinations of their minds are truly an enigma.
