I'm making good progress today. I've already come across a few Easter eggs, both to Hill's earlier work and to his father's oeuvre. Someone unfamiliar with either man's bibliography would not reap as much enjoyment as a Constant Reader.

The book reads way differently then his others; pages fly, and that's either a sign of my maturing as a Joe Hill reader or Joe Hill maturing as a Joe Hill writer. Probably a bit of both.
