This also brings to mind the Erin Brockavich story where lives were lost due to a major utility company hiding the danger of toxic pollution of drinking water. But this is more serious due to deception and greed of companies who lacked compassion for human life due to radioactive poisoning

Classic bait and switch at the expense of human life. This demonstrates the influence of fraud as far back as the early 20th century by government, corporations and licensing agencies. In some ways it's similar to The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks yet far more dangerous since we're talking about ignorance and greed together.
