Ok the writing is kind of really bad… the dialogue doesn’t make sense and just seems to be there to get the author’s take across. I think this story has so much potential but the characters don’t act in ways that feel real or normal and feel like ways for the writer to express her feelings about marriage and motherhood.

My friend Chinelo (@interestedinblackbooks) recently told me that a pet peeve of hers when it comes to books is when the author is too loud — when you can tell it’s their voice, their opinions in the pages and I wasn’t sure what she meant until now

I really love the concept of this story and wish it was executed with more layers and nuance and less of the author’s personal feelings

A mystery thriller that explores the taboo topic of women regretting motherhood. As someone who wasn’t sure about becoming a mom and now a new mom myself, I find this topic interesting and important.

I’m not sure if it’s because I am a mom and biased, but the characters just seem like caricatures of what a childfree person thinks life as a mom is like without much nuance or layers. Hoping for more as I go on!
