I'm debating since a while to pick this series up, but I'm scared it's to juvenile- what's your verdict?

It’s a middle grade series (and I was a kid when I read it for the first time so my love of it may partially be nostalgia) but it definitely has adult themes and really clever jokes. The vocabulary and writing style are not childish, in my opinion, and it doesn’t hurt that the narrator for most of the books is Tim Curry, so I do recommend trying the audiobooks! Plus, they’re short (the first few books are 3 hours and the final ones are 5-6) so it’s not a big time investment if they end up not being to your taste.

He’s the best!! I still have 2 months to wait on his autobiography audiobook at the library. FYI that he reads books 1 and 2 of the series of unfortunate events, then books 3-5 are read by the author (Tim Curry had a stroke and was in recovery when they were released), but then he comes back to be the narrator for the rest of the series.
