I don't want to be a dick and I imagine people read Canas because of the beautiful language. Buuut, I'd say too many similes and the narrators are sometimes stumbling over the words. Many sentences where I'd personally edit 😅 For example:
"Every stitch of her stance bleeding belicosity".
It feels like too much of a mouthful??

I might find the writing a bit grating, but I do think the characters, the setting, the historical details about silver mining and all that are quite compelling 😅

That's very fair! I don't think it's a bad book, at all, quite the opposite :)
I like prose with mouth-feel :) The subject matter isn't my typical thing, so I'll try it from the library, but hopefully it works out.
