I have not started this book; however, the cover provides clues. Folks calling this a retelling of Beauty and the Beast must not be familiar with stories about women who marry bears. Based on Ivey's other novel, the cover art, and the tantalizing tidbit on the jacket flap - this is a contemporary portrayal of the story of the woman who married a bear. The choice between man and bear predates social media, by a lot.
