I still don’t feel like this book is my cup of tea, but it’s getting more interesting and less annoying. Perhaps the audio book is more annoying than reading myself. Although there’s too much repetition of how awful things were, I feel that the perspective of the «different» kids is good. Why can’t the artist paint in class? Maybe teachers should read this. And parents.

There is a lot of repetition, the artist and fish would have liked this and that. Perhaps to underline how much they meant but also to make it endearing? And I can’t believe that Ted’s body is in such a horrible state at that age, it sounds like he’s 60

It feels like the author is trying too hard to create feelings and pictures in the readers mind. Sometimes it works like being as restless as wasps in a glass but sometimes not. What is running like a heart attack? The text is heavy with feelings and tries to conjure emotions but it becomes too much of it for me, it doesn’t feel natural.

I don’t really see what’s great about this book yet. It reminds me a bit about «a little life», which I thought was wallowing way too much in misery. It is different though. But there is something about how the misery and sadness is really spelled out in this book that doesn’t capture me. So far.
