It's been forever since I have read a book which does not contain a page wasting time! Everything is a part of the story and seems essential to be written. Most of the books have slogs written just to bloat the book.

I can tell Steven Erikson sits a tier above "great" SF/F authors just by reading (or listening audiobook) a couple conversation between characters. Someone like Joe Abercrombie or...GRRM. Well, let's see which of them he shares table with!
