They book needed a better reason they are working together towards the same goal

2/2 also his life is a mess but he also is able to seduce all these witnesses idk some of it doesn’t match
I also feel like they are fundamentally trying to do 2 different things. I feel like any evidence she would be able to use in her case would have to be legally obtained and given to the police. They keep pickpocketing things, deceiving people etc in a way a PI maybe? would

Something about this book reads like a first draft. It feels developmentally off like the ideas are kind of sketched out here but someone didn’t go through to connect, question or deepen them.

I also feel like Maurice’s characterization is all over the place. He’s like a black anime nerd with severe allergies, this debonair Mercedes driving/cigar smoking/materalistic Bond like detective and 1/2

What was the point of the vest …is the pacing weird and character’s motivations undercooked, yes but still having the time of my life

Very niche black DMV and religiously traumatized west African immigrant references that I understand ….but I’m the niche this book was written for, and I think most people will be like these characters are annoying
