SECRET BABY!

Cue in middle school crush on one of a set of twins. With a huge family of seven with the most rednecky names on the face of the earth. (Duane, Beau, CLEETUS, JETHRO) Brooding twin tricks her to make out with her because he's always held a torch for her, even though Jessica has always liked the nicer twin. Add in a biker gang, a rich aunt who leaves Jessica her entire fortune and you have a really weird romance!

Okay so lets recap. Recent college grad moves back into her small town parents house to teach calculus (can you even teach high school without a graduate degree????). She has a bad case of wanderlust but didn't take any opportunities to study abroad or volunteer in third world countries. She thinks she can pay back all of her student loans in 2 years by working as a high school teacher.

Also Guess what! SURPRISE YOU'RE RICH!

Oh thank god. The groceries got unpacked before the pants did. Phew. I was worried there for a second.

I'm obviously not having enough romance novel level sex yet. Because I would have insisted we bring the groceries up before anything.

WHAT ABOUT THE GROCERIES! YOU ARE JUST LEAVING THEM ON THE PORCH! THEY ARE GOING TO SPOIL!

Seriously. I am only half way through this book and nothing has happened. I think my problem with contemporary romance is that unless its a suspense/mystery romance, there just isn't enough conflict. At this point in a Historical, the hero and heroine would have been married, trying to figure our their lives, battling whatever conflict (class, evil dudes, secret babies, family concerns) together and working on them.

Honesty. This line: "A little known fact about Winstons we can see at night. Our momma told us we were part Yuchi indian on our dads side. and local legend said the tribe could see clear as day in the blackest night." OIC, you're a redheaded dude and you totally got all the good parts of native bloodlines. Yeah sure DUANE!

ugh seriously. "Claim that woman!" This is why i dont read contemporary romace. The language of much of the mediocre stuff is out of place. Alo i am updating this from my kindle. FINE TECHNOLOGY YOU WIN!
