Half way through and I’m going to makes some conjectures. Her sister isn’t dead and is the head of the gladiator house. The sword was in the box that the legionnaire showed her and her and the legionnaire are going to get together and her boyfriend from her home town is still alive.

Okay so. The first installment was great! And this one is just as good writing wise and world building wise but goddamn am i annoyed at how much Lady Helen has essentially done nothing. She has this great knife and never uses it, she has had all this training and is doubting herself. She is fucking smart and clever and can’t figure anything out on her own until it is almost too late.

She constantly drops her weapons, and while she good at hand to hand combat, she is piss poor at everything else. Including, but not limited to, gambling, her fancy sorcery and protecting her father who cannot leave his infirmary bed without getting hit by a spiritual attack that bed riddens him for another 6 chapters. Fuck this book.

This is the shittiest book know to man. So like the author pretty much put every single idea he ever had in his entire life in this book. He made the bad guy so undefeatable that there is no point to reading. For example, we have this terrible stories tall monster. The author has Lin-Lin do 5 or 6 different things and none of them work. Not one.

Like, the world and Lin are awesome. I want to know more, but this guy is the worst at storytelling. So much telling! Not enough showing!

Your editor needed to calm you the fuck down and clear out all this detritus. Honestly it's like this book is a COMPLETELY different series from the last ones. I am so disappointed.

Like, here let me set this plan up for what we're going to do to battle the bad guy, imma going to make all these sacrifices which will probably end in my death and uh, uh oh, it did, and really it didn't add anything but pages to the the goddamn story. I'm sorry, schwab I know you got a movie deal out of this but...

Okay. 556 pages in and this is a fucking disaster. Chapters are only 2 or 3 pages long. The bad guy is just like the worst, (too powerful, no motivation, just a disaster with wrecking the world for no reason) and all of the characters just make stupid decisions. Schwab is all over the place with this plot.

I really would have liked it if Nettie just didn't like anyone. I feel like it undermines her right now to be having crushes on people. Also, this story is so plot driven, I wish Nettie could just do what she needs to do. It is causing the story to be so slow. There are so many extraneous characters that you think might be worth paying attention to, and then they die.
