Okay so. The first installment was great! And this one is just as good writing wise and world building wise but goddamn am i annoyed at how much Lady Helen has essentially done nothing. She has this great knife and never uses it, she has had all this training and is doubting herself. She is fucking smart and clever and can’t figure anything out on her own until it is almost too late.

She is in the dark almost as much as we are. I get it, she needs more training, she is a woman in regency England, I am willing to suspend my disbelief a little bit in order to get some actual premeditated action. Not just coincidental action which is currently happening. I am skimming the last 10% of this book bc omg slow! This is a weird mix of a plot driven story mired in a character driven story going nowhere.
