It’s so funny to see my initial criticisms of this book when I first read it. The telling instead of showing won me over with the overall plot. This is one of my favourite series EVER. I’ve registered to the audiobooks maybe a hundred times and I’m on another re-listen now. I wish I logged all the times I re-listened

The author also skips over scenes that could be really interesting. Eg:
“All through the first battle, I fight defensively. I avoid Cardan. Nor do I come near Nicasia, Valerian, or Locke, even when Valerian knocks Fand to the dirt. Even when Valerian rips down our deer hide.”

I’m 18% through this book and most of the writing is the main characters inner dialogue. Why not show us that people were whispering about her rather than just saying. Pages and pages of descriptions 🙄
