On theme for Arno but a bit of a weird read to kick off the year. This was alright, I enjoyed it but I don’t know that I loved it. It was a bit confusing, particularly the magic system. I feel like I didn’t really understand it so when big magic things were happening I didn’t feel the full impact because I was just like oh ok, is that not normally possible in this magic system?Also there was an eleven language

With no translation which I just find kinda frustrating. I liked the main characters and I liked the crew, particularly the first mate but I would’ve liked more interaction ms between the main two. The captain was a pretty sad character too which was rough to read. I loved the sentient ship though and how much it loved him, I liked the explanation for why she was sentient too. I feel like the captain was too
