I’m not sure how I feel about the author; she mentions how aquariums often train animals to perform unnatural behaviors so that they would be more visible to the public but it was more matter-of-fact as opposed to discussing how this could be (an is imo) an ethical issue. She herself perpetuates the theatrics of it and it sometimes feels like she only finds octopodes interesting when they perform for her.

LOL I like the writing style it doesn’t feel like a textbook and more like a story and I’ve already learned so much. It’s so funny that octopodes get bored really quickly so aquarists have to constantly come up with new puzzles or they’ll damage the tank and break out. Be free 🐙
